Loose Cattle gathering

I realize that there are lots of people that own a few cows and once in a while one or more may crawl through a fence or escape some other way and the owners may have a hard time convincing these animals to come home. (It is funny how even the gentlest of cows can become a snorting, high headed runoff when outside the confines of there usual pasture.)
Therefore I am offering you the opportunity to contact me and possibly hire me to come out and do the gathering for you. The cost of this service varies but I assure you, it is a lot less expensive than losing the “at large” animal
I have been working for various ranches throughout the Columbia River Gorge for the last 15 years gathering up cattle and learning the art of tracking the elusive bovine. More recently I've been gathering animals for the Klickitat county Sherriff's dept. From these experiences I am confident that I can handle any situation that I may run across. With the help of my horse and three dogs, I have been able to track down multiple (extremely wild) cows/bulls and deliver them, often times miles away to a set of corrals where they can be loaded into my, or your trailer and hauled home safely. Occasionally, I have found that by simply roping and then loading the miscreant I can save you the trouble of finding a suitable corral in which to drive them.
Unfortunately for me, most of the time I am called after the cattle have been chased and escaped a few times (by well meaning folks trying to do the owner a favor) before I ever arrive. You see, every time a cow escapes capture they learn that they do not really need to pay attention to a man or horse or even a dog for that matter and therefore they become more and more difficult to catch.
What people do not realize is that there is a huge difference between playing cowboy and spending your entire adult life working to perfect your cowboy skills.
If you have a loose bovine(s) of any sort, give me a call. I’d love to come gather them up for you. I am also confident enough in my skills and the skills of my dogs that I will tell you right now that you will only pay for the animals that are caught. In other words, if I fail to catch your cattle you owe me nothing.  Drop me an email or give me a call. My contact info is located on the “contact us” page of this site.

Cattle A.I. service
In June of 2008 I had the opportunity to attend the All West/Select Sires summer A.I. school in Burlington Washington. My instructor was a longtime gorge resident Mr. Henry Jaeger of
Moro Ore.
If you have a small herd and do not necessarily want to feed a bull all year long just to get your cattle bred in the late spring or early winter, then you can give me a call and I can arrange to come and artificially breed them using semen from absolutely the best bulls in your particular breed.
I keep small amounts of semen from several beef breeds in my tank. Currently I have Angus, & Simmental semen available. I also have semen from several high profile Bucking bulls.
I can arrange to come out and “heat synchronize” your mother cows and then breed them all on the same day, this will insure you to have a very short calving season.
You can expect about 70% of your cattle to settle on the first go-round  using A.I. as the method of breeding them. The other cows can be re-bred around 21 days later.
A.I. is an excellent alternative to keeping an often ill tempered bull around your corrals.
Give me a call and I will be happy to give you an approximate cost of using A.I. on your cattle this next breeding season. Once again, you will find my contact info on the “contact us” page of this site.
